As of April 8, 2008, support for the Visual Studio 6.0 IDE has ended. However, Microsoft still offers support for select runtime extended files that are distributed together with applications. In May 2009, Microsoft released a cumulative update rollup for the Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0 Service Pack 6 (SP6) Runtime Extended Files. This important rollup includes security updates and updated versions of many other Microsoft ActiveX controls that make up the Visual Studio 6.0 Runtime Extended Files. We will distribute those updated controls now, with every new software release. For an overview of all changes, please have a look at the knowledge base article KB957924 [more]

This problem occurs due to a Windows Installer defect in combination with the following software incapability: .NET Framework version 3.0 is installed on a machine running Windows XP SP2. Under this configuration the Windows Installer is not able to install or uninstall the Agilent Chemstation (B.0x.0x) software more than once and will leave the registry in a corrupt state. To solve this defect either update Windows XP to Service Pack SP3 or stay with .NET Framework 2.0.
If you already run into the problem, try to restore your system with an earlier created Recovery Point. Click on Start, point to All Programs, and click Accessories, System Tools, System Restore. When the System Restore window appears, select "Restore My Computer To An Earlier Time" and then click on the <Next> button. Choose the date on which you set the Restore Point and click <Next>. Review the information presented and save any open files. Shut down any other programs that may be running. Click again on the <Next> button and now your computer will restart. As it restarts, it will present a message informing you of the restore point. Click <OK> here and you're done. There is also a Registry Cleanup Tool available from Agilent. Please ask your local Agilent Service representative for a copy of that tool. It is also included on the ChemStation B.03.01 CD2 (User Documentation and Accessories) in the Support directory.
